By watching and listing to the presentations of my classmates I've was able to retain lot of important information I didn't know before. I had section 3-2 and 3-2b which were race and ethnicity. In my research I got to know more about race and the different cultures. Like race is usually associated with biology and linked with the physical characteristics of each person. Such as their hair texture  or skin color yet people of similar complexions or hair textures can be defined as different races.  And I also gathered information about ethnicity like that its a broader term than race. The term is mostly used to categorize different groups of people.  Commonalities such as cultural, linguistic, religious, racial, tribal  or national origin may be used to describe someone's ethnicity. Also learned that immigrants changed their names to "American's" if I'm not mistaken they needed to learn English. Got to learn how cultures differ and that there are 9 different cultural value differences one of them is. Power distance, in high power distance is defined from below rather than above. High power distance are differentiated into classes, they have stable and scarce power bases. Then there's also Uncertainty Avoidance members are comfortable with ambiguous and unknown situations. They also are tolerant of change. Orientation to time is cultures with future orientation have a strong tendency and willingness to imagine future possibilities. Gender Egalitarianism biological constraints in childbearing have long dictated societal norms about he roles of men and woman in many societies. Assertiveness societies with low gender egalitarianism typically display high assertiveness. Being vs doing societies believe that schooling and education are critical for success.  They value training and development. Humane Orientation members of low humane orientation societies are less sensitive to racial discrimination and are motivated by power and possessions. Indulgence vs restraint in contrast retract societies believe that hedonistic pressure needs to be curbed and regulated by strict social norms. Individualism vs collectivism in individual societies people define themselves in terms of I and their unique attributes.
